Today Cinderella hits theatres with a new version of the classic Disney movie, this time interpreted by actors in the flesh. Excited? Curious? Totally indifferent? While we are waiting to see the movie (or not), the magic of one of the most famous fairytales comes to live in the beauty stores with two series of makeup products inspired by the princess with the glass slipper. But it is not the first time that cosmetic brands offer special collections dedicated to Disney world, often with an adorable packaging. Here’s a rundown of our favourites!
Let’s start obviously with the brand new set dedicated to Cinderella and made by MAC Cosmetics, that offers a complete series of products and accessories that reflects the movie colours and themes, with names like “Glass Slipper”, “Stroke of Midnight” and “Evil Stepmother”. The packages are characterized by the pearly blue colour of Cinderella dress, which makes the powder and blush boxes really romantic and chic. The Trend Edition by Essence is dedicated instead to the old animated movie from the Fifties. The highlights are obviously the nail polishes in limited edition, including a beautiful crystal effect top coat. Both collections are already in the shops or there will be soon.
Continuing the Disney Princess theme, last year the Korean Etude House presented the wonderful Princess Happy Ending series, dedicated to Snow White, Cinderella, Belle and Jasmine. As usual for the eastern cosmetic brands, both the packaging and the products are very nice and original, ranging from the “red apple” lipstick of Show White to the rose-shaped blush of Belle, from the mascara for big eyes like Jasmine to Cinderella glitter nail polishes. Unfortunately the series is no longer in production.
Another simply stunning collection is the 2013 Sephora series dedicated to Cinderella, Jasmine and Ariel. In this case, the palettes are inserted inside fantastic packages made like fairytales books. The icing on the cake, however, is represented by the beautiful perfume bottles and the pocket mirrors: so beautiful you almost regret using them (the Cinderella mirror shaped like a pocket watch is spectacular!).
Maybe not everyone knows that Disney itself has produced its own line of cosmetics, for sale inside Disney parks overseas. It’s called Beautifully Disney Collection and it’s dedicated to the women of Disney, from Cinderella to Maleficent, including Tinkerbell, Rapunzel, Minnie and the newcomers Anna and Elsa from Frozen. Not only the packages are stylish, but also the actual shop is beautiful, especially if you love a little gothic atmosphere.
Are you among those who prefer villains to princesses? Then surely you already know very well the two collections that MAC Cosmetics has dedicated to Disney bad girls. In 2010, the protagonists were the Witch from Snow White, Cruella and Maleficent, while last year the last has earned a collection of her own after the release of the movie starring Angelina Jolie. Let’s face it, they are bad but when it comes to style there’s none for anyone!
