Review: Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World

Poochy % Yoshi's Woolly World

A break between levels

There are not only levels to complete, boss to defeat and worlds to explore! Poocky & Yoshi’s Woolly World is full of many other activities. One of the most fun is Yoshi’s Cinema, with everyday a new lovely short movie with Yoshi and Poochy as protagonists. The movies were made using the stop motion technique and they are simply great. In game, they are 30, each followed by a small quiz that rewards you with some beads. For the most curious, there’s also a great behind the scene explaining how they did them.

It’s not over, of course! For the most creative, there’s also Yoshi’s house where you can try making your own custom Yoshi, using the patterns you collected in game or making new ones. We tried using Kawaii Gasette’s colours: it’s not very good but we are still learning!

Also, you can play some bonus stages with Poochy as protagonist, running breathlessly toward the finish line. All we have to do is push the jump button in the right moment, to catch all the beads, pop the balloons and complete the missions. What a satisfaction when you “pick up the pace” and you manage to do the right jumps at the right time!

With amiibo is better!

In Poocky & Yoshi’s Woolly World you can use amiibo to expand your game. You can purchase the same toys used to make the short movies and we assure you they are simply adorable! Poochy’s amiibo can be bought with the game and lets you call the dog to help you in the most difficult levels. If used with the puppies in mellow mode, it gets a bit messy but he’s so cute! Yoshi’s amiibo can be used to make a second Yoshi appear and to store a customized Yoshi to bring with you.

You can also use amiibo from other Nintendo games (Mario, Animal Crossing, Zelda, Splatoon…) to get special patterns dedicated to these characters and to give your Yoshi a special make-over!
