Movies: the anime arriving in Italian theatres this fall

A new season of anime opens at the movies! For the 7th year, Nexo Digital and Dynit bring some of the most successful Japanese animated feature films to Italian theatres. This year the chosen movies are very recent successes, which will surely make the joy of the Japanese animation fans (and ours). Here are the three films that we will soon see in our cinemas.

Mirai no mirai

The event begins on October 15th with Mirai, the new feature by Mamoru Hosoda, former director of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. His new film, presented at the last Cannes Film Festival, features Kun-chan, a child who struggles to accept the arrival of his new little sister Mirai. One day, however, little Kun will meet a strangely familiar girl: his sister, now all grown up, coming from the future. The film has had excellent reviews all over the world and has been praised for the lightness and delicacy with which it shows us the world from the point of view of a child. Mirai will be at the movies in Italy only for three days, from October 15th to 17th.

Penguin Highway

It continues on November 20th and 21st with Penguin Highway, directed by Hiroyasu Ishida and based on the novel with the same name by Tomihiko Morimi, already winner of the Japan SF Grand Prize. It is the story of Aoyama, a little boy who writes down his life in a series of notebooks. When penguins begin to appear mysteriously in his city, Aoyama decides to investigate to find out what’s going on. Here, now we are curious to know why the penguins appear!

I want to eat your pancreas

The last appointment is from January 21st to 23rd with I want to eat your pancreas, the animated version of Yoru Sumino’s bestseller, already adapted in a very successful live-action. Directed by Shinchiro Ushijima, it is the story of a high school student who discovers by chance that Sakura, one of his classmates, is dying. The terrible secret bring closer the two kids who, despite very different characters, start to spend more and more time together. Prepare the tissues: there will be crying! The novel and the manga will soon arrive in Italy published by Dynit.
