A mysterious and nostalgic story

The protagonists of The Place Promised in Our Early Days are three friends united by a dream: to fly their plane by the mysterious tower on Hokkaido Island, a construction so tall it seems lost in the sky. Their happy days however end abruptly with the disappearance of one of them. In the background, there’s a war that threatens to erupt at any moment and that seems to have at its centre the strange and high tower. What’s its purpose? And why friends that seemed inseparable have now taken different roads?

Science fiction meets feelings

The true nature of the tower is unveiled really slowly, with clues that led us to the second act of the movie, when everything becomes clear. The passage to the melancholic first part the second one maybe is a bit abrupt, but the sci-fi implications don’t take over the most delicate and dramatic aspects of the story. Until the end, The Place Promised in Our Early Days it’s the story of three kids, their friendship and their dream.
