Double anniversary at Sanrio: the 40 years of My Melody and Little Twin Stars

They’re 40 years old but it doesn’t seem like that! After the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Hello Kitty, in 2015 it’s time for a double party: the birthdays of My Melody and Little Twin Stars. Sanrio unveiled in the last days the concepts (and the first accessories) for the celebrations of two of the brand most popular characters, that in this period are living a second youth.

My Melody - Little Twin Stars

The theme chosen for the 40 years of My Melody (her birthday was yesterday!) is compassion and empathy, in other worlds “omoiyari“, a Japanese term that indicate precisely respect and mutual acceptance. To make this feeling bloom in the heart of people, My Melody choose the colourful and flourishing nature of Maryland, the forest where she lives with her friends. For the occasion, Sanrio online store opened a special section all devoted to My Melody, that will collect the products made for the anniversary. Also, from August Puroland will be painted in pink for a series of special events, like an exhibition and a cafè.

For Little Twin Stars, instead, the code word is Twinkleforever. So, Kiki and Lala are covered in shining gems to bring even more light and sweetness into the world, going hand in hand towards a sparkling future. One of the first collaboration will be with Converse, that will produce a special edition of their famous Chuck Taylor sneakers dedicated to Kiki and Lala.
