Barbie celebrates the heroines of a new generation of girls

March 8th was a few days ago, but we want to celebrate International Women’s Day once more, showing you the amazing collection launched by Barbie for the occasion. The most famous doll in the world has in fact honoured in her own way some of the greatest heroines of our time, women who have changed the world and deserve to be role models for the new generations. Here’s who they are!

From the director of Wonder Woman Patty Jenkins to the captain of the Italian national football team (and Juventus) Sara Gama, passing through entrepreneurs, scientists and chefs. The 14 new dolls join the other “Shero” (did you get the pun?) already honoured in recent years by Mattel. Unfortunately, they are unique pieces that will not be on the market. The exceptions are the three collectible dolls of the new Inspiring Women line, dedicated to women who made history: the artist Frida Kahlo, the aviator Amelia Earhart and the scientist Katherine Johnson. You can already buy the three dolls in the Barbie online store.

The new Barbie dolls not only celebrate girl power, but also diversity: just like the women in flesh and bones to which they are inspired, they come in every size, height and colour of the skin, a trend already present in the new Barbie Fashionistas. We have to admit that we envy a little today’s girls who can choose from so many different models! What is your favourite Shero?
