A wallpaper for Japan

Among the many initiatives emerged to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami occurred last March, we wanted to show you the ones taken by Yahoo!Japan and Goo, two of the most popupar portals and search engines in Japan, which have enabled two identical fundraising. Participation is restricted only to residents in Japan, but we wanted to let you know anyway.

What is it? Through the appropriate pages on their portals, Yahoo and Goo provide wallpapers to their users, in exchange of a donation. The amount of money collected will be devolved to groups who are working in the reconstruction. And here comes the fun part: all the wallpapers have been “donated” by the most famous Japanese manga artists and designers!

Un wallpaper per il Giappone

In the galleries you can choose from illustrations by Natsuki Takaya (Fruits Basket) and Dick Bruna (Miffy), Chica Umino (Honey & Clover) and Akemi Takada (Creamy), CLAMP (Card Captor Sakura), Akira Toriyama (Dragonball) and many more. There is also Sanrio, which donated a wallpaper that shows its most famous characters. Overall, they had collected more than a half billion yen so far, more than 12 million euros!

Even in Italy there are similar initiatives! Many Italian designers joined together to sell their creations as posters and donate the proceeds to charity. We show you, for example, the fundraising initiatives of Ninja Marketing and Associazione Hope, both collecting really great works!
