If you were born in the Eighties, it is very likely that you have spent the next decade asking mom and dad (or who for them) to play with Polly Pocket, the legendary miniature dolls that live in pocket-sized caskets. This year, Polly Pocket celebrates its 30th anniversary with a collection of accessories available exclusively at Hot Topic stores.
Polly Pocket made its debut in stores in 1989 and quickly became one of the most desired toys for girls (I still have the much-loved village jewellery box). At the end of the nineties, the brand was sold to Mattel, who unfortunately completely redesigned the dolls, making them more fashionable and definitely less “pocket”.
The new collection of accessories available at Hot Topic, however, is addressed to the nostalgic girls and recalls the old logo and design of Polly Pocket. The pocket playsets are transformed into lipstick and eye shadow palettes or into lovely handbags, cases and backpacks in pastel colours. There are obviously also t-shirts and accessories for those who love the retro-pop style of the Nineties. Do you still have your old Polly Pocket collection?
