Sanrio for Smiles in Milan

During Mi Japan, a festival dedicated to Japanese culture in Milan, scheduled from May 20th to 22nd, there will be a special exhibition organized by Sanrio Foundation!

Sanrio for Smiles Exhibition

Like many of the events dedicated to the country of the Rising Sun, Mi Japan also decided to devote the entire 2011 edition to raise funds for the people affected by March 11th earthquake. Sanrio has decided to contribute to the cause with “Sanrio For Smiles Exhibition”, an exhibition involving more than 20 contemporary artists from around the world (including Simone Legno, Tomoko Nagao and Mijn Schatje), who will show their works inspired by various Sanrio characters. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross, which is working to rebuild the country. The exhibition is part of a larger project, “Sanrio For Smiles”, which will produce and sale limited edition accessories, with the proceeds donated to charity.

In addition to “Sanrio For Smiles Exhibition”, during Mi Japan it will be possible to participate in workshops, language classes, demonstrations of martial arts and music spaces. Also, 200 t-shirts exclusively designed by Simone Legno (Tokidoki) will be sold for charity!

“Sanrio For Smiles Exhibition” will open on Friday, May 20th at 18:00, with the presence of some artists and Hello Kitty in fur! The exhibition will be open to public until Sunday, May 22th, from 10:00 to 22:00, at Umanitaria, Via San Barnaba, 38 (Milan). The daily entrance fee is 8 Euros (part of the ticket price will be donated to the Red Japanese Cross). More informations on Mi Japan website. Come along, if you can!
