On air in Italy: Kuu Kuu Harajuku, the kawaii animated series by Gwen Stefani

It is not new that pop star Gwen Stefani loves Japanese fashion. Many of you probably remember the song Harajuku Girls, the group of dancers with the same name (which has attracted some criticism to the singer) and the Harajuku Lovers perfume line with the collectable dolls. Maybe, not all of you know that Gwen Stefani transformed her Harajuku Girls (and herself) in characters of an animated series, just landed here in Italy!

The cartoon is called Kuu Kuu Harajuku and follows the adventures of HJ5, a band of 5 girls with a huge passion for music and a huge talent in attract all sorts of troubles, which stop their concerts every time. The name and the aspect of the protagonists are the same of the Harajuku Lovers dolls: Love, Angel, Music, Baby and G, the leader of the band. The character design, of course, is super kawaii! Also, the theme song is performed by Gwen Stefani: you can watch and listen to it in the video below.

The first season of Kuu Kuu Harajuku is broadcasted by Italian tv channel Pop every day at 7:30 and 17:00. In the United States it’s on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. Let us know if you like it!
