Gothic Lolita Style at Lucca Comics 2010 – Part Three

Third and final part dedicated to Lolita style! After writing about what Lolita fashion is and listing the various substyles that are part of it, let’s talk about shopping, following the suggestions of the girls from Gothic Lolita Zone!

How do I buy Lolita style clothes?

  • It’s possible to buy the clothes directly to the source, in Japanese or Chinese stores that sell abroad, or through auctions and second hand stores. Not all brands ship outside the country, but you can use shopping services, brokers who ship worldwide items purchased in Japan only. On GLZ you can find a special section with the tips for buying abroad.
  • At our disposal there is also the international community (EGL Community Sales), where girls and boys from Europe, America and Australia buy and sell Lolita Style clothes and accessories.
  • If you do not like to buy abroad, you can contact the Gothic Lolita Zone, which hosts the largest Italian virtual stall selling of clothing and accessories.
  • Finally, you can try handmade, creating by youself clothes or accessories (or using assistance from a professional seamstress). On GLZ, you can ask for advice to seamstresses, some of which also accept commissions for the creation of custom dresses!

In any case, it should be kept in mind that Lolita style clothes are generally quite expensive, especially the new ones and made by brands (as mentioned earlier, the quality of clothes is always very high and of course has a price). If you want, you can always fall back to second hand clothes, which often allows you to save a few pennies.

We are ending our special report on Lolita fashion with the video of the runway held in Lucca Comics and Games fair! In the crowded cloister of Japan Palace, the girls showed different examples of various Lolita styles. If you liked the video, I recommend you to pay a visit to Sybelle‘s Flickr profile, where you can admire the beautiful photos shot during the event!

Finally, I would like to thank once again the girls of Gothic Lolita Zone for their helpfulness and for the wonderful job!
